Mary O'Brien

Mary grew up in Skibbereen, West Cork, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Ireland's southwest coast. She studied Commerce at University College Cork and later pursued legal studies at King's Inns, Dublin.

Throughout her life, Mary has been drawn to the seaside, finding endless inspiration in the wild beauty of the Irish coastline. The dramatic interplay of light on water, the power of the Atlantic, and the ever-changing moods of the sea inform her artistic vision.

Working primarily in acrylics, Mary's paintings capture the raw energy and atmospheric depth of coastal landscapes. Her expressive brushwork and bold use of colour convey the emotional essence of each scene—from stormy seas crashing against weathered cliffs to the soft glow of dusk over quiet harbours.
